ICHANGE is committed to making our website and services accessible to people with disabilities. We believe everyone deserves access to mental health information and care, including people who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, keyboard-only navigation, voice recognition software, and switch devices.
Our commitment
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA — the international standard for web accessibility. Conformance with these guidelines helps make the web more user-friendly for everyone.
This is an ongoing effort. We regularly review our site for accessibility issues and update it to address what we find.
What we've done
Our website includes the following accessibility features:
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements (links, buttons, forms, the hamburger menu) can be reached and operated with the keyboard alone
- Screen-reader support — semantic HTML structure, descriptive
alttext on meaningful images, and ARIA labels on interactive controls - Color contrast — body text and links meet WCAG AA contrast ratios against their backgrounds
- Resizable text — text can be enlarged to 200% without breaking the layout
- Captions and transcripts — videos on our site (e.g., the homepage hero) are background visuals only; primary information is also presented in text
- Reduced motion — animations honor the
prefers-reduced-motionsystem setting and are minimized for users who have requested less motion - Focus indicators — visible focus outlines on all interactive elements
- Mobile and touch friendly — the site works on phones, tablets, and small screens
Known limitations
We are actively working on the following:
- YouTube embed — the homepage hero video is provided by YouTube and inherits YouTube's player accessibility. If you experience difficulty, the video is decorative and is not required to use any part of the site.
- Google Forms — our intake form is hosted by Google and its accessibility is governed by Google. As an alternative, you can email intake@ichangeprocess.org or call (810) 243-2607 to share your information instead.
- Third-party calendar booking — appointment scheduling links open in Google Calendar, which has its own accessibility features and limitations.
If you encounter any other accessibility barriers on our site, please let us know — we want to fix them.
Reporting a barrier or requesting assistance
If you have trouble using our website, or if you need information or services from us in an accessible format (large print, accessible PDF, recorded audio, etc.), please contact us. We will do our best to provide what you need within a reasonable timeframe.
